Cullen and Dykman Attorneys Brendan Mooney and Robert Sorge Secure Permit Approvals for Interstate Natural Gas Pipeline Project

Cullen and Dykman attorneys, Brendan Mooney and Robert Sorge, worked to successfully obtain air permits from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (“NYSDEC”) for Iroquois Gas Transmission System, L.P.’s proposed Enhancement by Compression (ExC) Project. This was a significant achievement for C&D and Iroquois, representing the first time a new interstate natural gas pipeline project received permits from NYSDEC in several years.  Brendan and Bob stewarded the Project’s New York State permitting efforts and assisted in the preparation of the Project’s permit applications and environmental review documentation, which demonstrated that it would be the least environmentally impactful alternative that could achieve Project’s goal of ensuring continued safe and reliable natural gas service to the New York City metropolitan area.  As part of that environmental review, Brendan and Bob guided the preparation of a Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (“CLCPA”) consistency assessment, which was integral to NYSDEC’s review and ultimate decision to approve the Project permits.  Issuance of the New York Project permits marks a significant step forward for the Project.
