The ideal candidate will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) and other related software, and exceptional organizational skills. Responsibilities include assisting attorneys (and other staff as needed), corresponding and communicating with clients, sorting and maintaining files and schedules, and managing all incoming and outgoing information related to a matter. An ability to work with little supervision and to prioritize multiple tasks in an efficient and detail-oriented manner is essential.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • College degree preferred
  • 2-4 years of relevant banking experience in a law firm, including knowledge of closing binders and UCC forms
  • Must possess proactiveness, resourcefulness, and a strong work ethic
  • Ability to self-prioritize and work independently in a fast-paced firm environment
  • Must be extremely detail oriented and have superior organizational and computer skills
  • Ability to communicate professionally to internal and external clients

Payroll/HR Coordinator (Garden City, NY).

Job Summary:

Cullen & Dykman LLP is a full-service law firm that has been serving clients since 1850. We are seeking an energetic mid­level payroll professional to help administer the firm’s semi-monthly payroll as well as assist with other departmental projects as needed. The position, based in Garden City, is responsible for ensuring employee relations and satisfaction are attained in all areas of the position.

The Payroll/HR Coordinator reports to the Director of Human Resources and is a vital part of the Human Resources Team.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Process semi-monthly payroll using ADP.
  • Respond and resolve external/internal inquiries regarding payroll matters.
  • Maintain detailed records of time and attendance using ADP and ensure accuracy and compliance for all aspects of the process.
  • Reconcile and maintain payroll accordingly.
  • Partner with the Benefits Administrator to ensure that all benefit deductions are accurately captured in payroll.
  • Monthly reporting for departmental managers as needed. Possible general ledger recording of payroll.
  • Process and maintain accurate records of vacation and sick benefit time.
  • Cross train on new hire setup in ADP system.
  • Respond to employee requests quickly and professionally.
  • Work on miscellaneous human resources projects as needed.
  • Safeguard and keep information, observations, or viewpoints regarding Firm and employee matters confidential.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • Four (4) years of experience working with multi-state payroll in an organization of 100 or more employees.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience using an automated payroll processing system.
  • Ability to proactively identify payroll issues and suggested solutions.
  • Junior level HR generalist experience a plus.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Federal, State, and Local tax requirements.
  • Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills to setup formulas for analysis and reporting purposes.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be capable of operating in a fast-paced environment and perform efficiently under multiple deadlines, requiring an ability to prioritize, a commitment to proactive communication and exceptional follow through skills.

Working Conditions and Travel Requirements:
