July 28, 2026

Christian Lastihenos is a 2026 Summer Associate in the firm’s Uniondale office. He is a current law student at Touro University Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center. Learn more about Christian through the Summer Associate Spotlight below:

What drew you to Cullen and Dykman?

I was drawn to Cullen and Dykman because of the firm's welcoming culture and the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of practice areas. From the beginning, it was clear that the firm values mentorship and gives Summer Associates meaningful opportunities to learn directly from experienced attorneys, making it an ideal place to grow both professionally and personally.

What have you appreciated most about the Summer Associate program?

What I have appreciated most is the opportunity to work on a variety of substantive assignments while building relationships with attorneys across different practice groups. Everyone has been welcoming and willing to share their knowledge and experience.

What project challenged you the most this summer, and how did it help you grow?

One of the most challenging projects I worked on this summer was assisting with the drafting and review of a stock purchase agreement. It required me to carefully analyze the purpose of different provisions, understand how they fit into the overall transaction, and pay close attention to detail.

What is the most valuable skill you gained while working as a Summer Associate?

The most valuable skill I gained was developing a stronger attention to detail. Whether reviewing contracts or drafting legal documents, I learned how even small changes in language can have significant legal and business implications. That experience reinforced the importance of precision in every assignment.

What is something you learned in law school that helped you during the Summer Associate program? Has anything from the program helped you better understand law school?

Law school taught me how to think critically, conduct legal research, and write persuasively, all of which have been invaluable during the program. In return, the practical experience I've gained this summer has given greater context to many of the concepts I learned in the classroom.

Is there anyone in your life who influenced your decision to go to law school?

My family has been a significant source of encouragement throughout my academic and professional journey. Their support and emphasis on hard work and lifelong learning motivated me to pursue a legal career.

What advice do you have for prospective Summer Associates?

Be curious, ask questions, and take advantage of every opportunity to learn. Don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. This experience is about developing your skills and building relationships as much as it is about the work itself.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work?

Outside of work, I enjoy staying active by going to the gym, following the stock market and keeping up with financial news, and watching sports. I also enjoy spending time with family and friends and taking advantage of opportunities to travel.

Do you have a favorite quote or motto?

"Success is where preparation and opportunity meet." — Bobby Unser
