New York State Department of Education Publishes New Filing Guidance on Section 129-B Policies

June 20, 2016

Below is an update that the New York State Education Department (“NYSED”) posted on its website on June 16th regarding the Certificate of Compliance required to be filed under Article 129-B with the NYSED by July 1, 2016, along with copies of the written rules and policies adopted in accordance with Article 129-B (http://www.highered.nysed.gov/ocue/Article129ABcert.html). Higher education institutions in New York must file these documents through the NYSED’s electronic system only. Hard copies submitted via email to the Office of College and University Evaluation will not be accepted. However, the NYSED is still completing work on an electronic system for the submission of the required filings so the system is not yet operational. Presumably, it will be up and running before Friday, July 1, 2016.

We will provide further information on filing the 2016 Certificate of Compliance and written policies as soon as it becomes available from the NYSED.

Should you have any questions or concerns about this or any other higher education matter, please do not hesitate to contact Kevin P. McDonough at kmcdonough@cullenanddykman.com at 516-357-3787 or Hayley B. Dryer at hdryer@cullenanddykman.com or 516-357-3745.
