Sy Kim is a partner in the firm’s Banking Litigation department. Sy provides strategic business consulting and legal advice to clients, including general counsel services to growing companies. He was previously Special Advisor at Steptoe & Johnson LLP and Chair of the Korea Practice Group at Sheppard Mullin, both international law firms.

Sy has extensive experience in corporate and commercial matters, especially providing legal and business advice to both domestic and international companies with emphasis in acquisitions, franchises, dealerships, and financing transactions. His experience also includes representation of lending institutions in services ranging from real estate transactions to corporate issues. He serves as counsel to a variety of clients in the apparel, footwear, shipping, electronics, telecommunications, and heavy equipment industries, assisting on complex licensing, marketing, distribution, and manufacturing issues. Sy also serves as litigation counsel for many of these companies, including international companies in matters ranging from commercial litigation matters to product liability. He has helped numerous international companies establish a presence in the United States.

In the entertainment and media industry, Sy represents clients in various licensing opportunities, especially in Asia, through joint venture and strategic partnerships with local real estate developers. He provides counsel on artist representation and content distribution deals.
