Partners Elizabeth A. Murphy and Kevin Patterson to Present for New York Bankers Association (NYBA) on New York’s New Power of Attorney Law

Elizabeth A. Murphy and Kevin Patterson, partners in the firm’s Banking and Financial Services department, will present in a New York Bankers Association (NYBA) webinar on Wednesday, April 28, 2021, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM EST.

The webinar is titled "New York’s New Power of Attorney Law Explained" and will discuss the changes in the standards and timing for review of the forms, and the need for banks to prepare for this new and multifold process.

According to its website, NYBA represents community, regional and money center commercial banks and thrift institutions in New York State with 200,000 employees and more than $10 trillion in aggregate assets.

Elizabeth A. Murphy handles regulatory, compliance, corporate and transactional matters for all types of financial institutions. This includes providing advice on issues such as cybersecurity, truth-in-lending, truth-in-savings, the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), electronic banking and lending limits. Elizabeth regularly assists clients in complying with evolving privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations.

Kevin Patterson represents banks and other financial institutions regarding legal and regulatory compliance issues as well as the operational implementation of legal and regulatory requirements. Kevin has particular experience in the area of electronic delivery of financial services, having served as primary counsel for the establishment and regular operations of several online banking services – including mobile banking services, text banking, and wireless browsers.
