Joseph D. Simon to Speak at the New Jersey Bankers Association Residential Lending and Servicing Committee Meeting
September 12, 2017Joseph D. Simon, a partner in the Firm's banking practice area, will be a speaker at the September 12, 2017 meeting of New Jersey Bankers Association’s Residential Lending and Servicing Committee. Mr. Simon will be making a presentation on the new regulatory requirements imposed on financial institutions under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA), and in particular recent amendments made to those requirements by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Mr. Simon has previously spoken on HMDA, as well as on a myriad of regulatory and compliance issues impacting financial institutions. He is the co-author of the article “Cybersecurity Regulation for Financial Services Companies: New York Leads the Way” in the Summer, 2017 edition of the Journal of Taxation and Regulation of Financial Services Companies. Mr. Simon is also the author of “CFPB Mortgage Rules Under the Dodd-Frank Act,” a volume of Bloomberg BNA’s Banking Portfolio Series. The 2015 portfolio provides a comprehensive overview of mortgage rules issued by the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau under the Dodd-Frank Act. Mr. Simon is a recipient of a JD Supra Reader’s Choice Award in both 2016 and 2017 for being one of the top authors in the country with respect to readership and engagement in the area of Banking/Financial Services.
