Attorney Spotlight: Matthew Grasso

September 13, 2023

Who/What has inspired you the most in your career?

My inspiration comes from my family. I strive every day to be an attorney that my wife and son can be proud of.

What has been the most impactful advice you have received while practicing law?

The most impactful advice I have received so far in my young career was to know what you know, but also, know what you don’t know, and don’t be afraid to ask for help and advice when you need it.

How was your transition from the 2019 Summer Associate Program to becoming an Associate at the firm?

My transition was different than most. I joined the firm as an Associate in October 2020. Beginning your career during a Pandemic is never easy, but having participated in the Summer Associate Program, I already had a relationship with many of the attorneys which allowed for a smooth transition. As my First-Year rotation progressed, Andrew Nitkewicz took me under his wing, and I soon transitioned into the Trusts and Estates Department.

What is your proudest professional achievement?

My proudest professional achievement was the first time the Court granted a motion that I had prepared and argued.

What is your favorite thing about Cullen and Dykman?

The people. In the Trusts and Estates Department, we work with most, if not all, of the departments at the firm. Everyone has been incredibly friendly as we all share a common goal.

What activities do you participate in outside the firm?

Right now, my life outside the firm consists mostly of spending time with my wife and year-old son.

What is your favorite quote?

“What’s Next?”- President Bartlet, the West Wing
