Jean-Pierre van Lent is a partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation department. He is a senior litigator with 38 years of experience successfully trying cases in the state, federal district and bankruptcy courts of New York. He has also represented clients before administrative tribunals and on a pro hac vice basis in various jurisdictions across the country. His extensive litigation experience also includes representing clients in arbitration and mediation, as well as in appellate cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit and the Appellate Division Departments of the Supreme Court of the State of New York. 

Jean-Pierre represents corporate and individual defendants in commercial, construction, environmental (CERCLA, RCRA, New York State Navigation Law), employment and labor, intellectual property, maritime, products liability, professional malpractice (medical, legal, accounting, architectural, engineering, surveyor, broker), insurance and reinsurance, and toxic tort (asbestos, lead-based paint, mold, PCBs, pesticides, volatile organic compounds) litigation. He also provides advice on insurance coverage to carriers and policyholders and litigates declaratory judgment actions involving all types of insurance lines of coverage. Jean-Pierre also represents clients in bankruptcy adversary proceedings and construction contract disputes in the public and private sectors, and other types of commercial litigation.
