Cullen and Dykman Welcomes New Partner Scott Greenspan

August 27, 2018

GARDEN CITY, NY- Highly experienced and leading commercial, real estate, and insurance coverage litigator Scott D. Greenspan has joined regional law firm Cullen and Dykman LLP as a Partner in the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice.

Scott focuses his practice on commercial litigation, real estate litigation and insurance coverage litigation. He has wide-ranging experience in representing Fortune 500 corporations, real estate developers, high net worth entrepreneurs, insurance carriers, and policyholders in cases all over the country.

Christopher H. Palmer, Managing Partner of Cullen and Dykman, stated that “We are thrilled to have Scott join Cullen and Dykman, bringing with him his almost 25 years of experience in high-stakes major commercial, real estate, and insurance coverage litigation cases. Scott is held in extremely high regard and is known for the tremendous successful results he consistently obtains for his clients. Scott’s addition will no doubt boost the continued growth of the firm’s commercial litigation team.”

In his best known national victory – one of the biggest defense verdicts of the year – Scott served as lead trial counsel and defended a major insurance carrier in a two-month trial, winning a defense verdict against a $100 million claim. Scott also served as lead insurance coverage litigation counsel to a global insurance carrier facing over $2 billion in construction defect and dental professional liability claims.

In his best known New York victory, a case heavily covered in the local media, Scott served as lead counsel to the world’s largest privately-held fitness company and saved the lease and his client’s possession of its largest health club in the world – fending off a $14 million claim by the landlord on summary judgment after winning an injunction ex parte to stop the landlord from terminating the lease. Not only did Scott save the lease but he protected his client’s over $10 million investment in the health club and the jobs of over 100 of its employees.

“Scott brings additional depth and breadth of experience to Cullen and Dykman LLP which nicely augments the diverse commercial litigation abilities of the firm and we are excited to offer his complementary talents to our clients,” noted Jim Ryan, Head of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Practice.

Prior to joining Cullen and Dykman, Scott was a Partner at Amato Law Group PLLC where he represented clients in commercial and real estate litigation. Prior to that, he was an Equity Partner at international law firm Sedgwick LLP where he ran, day-to-day, a team of several dozen lawyers in five of the firm’s offices litigating insurance coverage and commercial litigation cases worth as much as $1.6 billion.

Scott obtained his J.D. from New York University School of Law and his B.A. from The American University and is admitted to the bars of New York and Washington, DC. Scott is based in the firm’s Wall Street and Garden City offices.
