Bozena Diaz Appointed Member of the NJ Supreme Court Committee on the Tax Court and Co-Chair the International Taxation Committee of the Tax Section of the NJ State Bar

Bozena Diaz, head of the firm’s Tax Department, has been appointed to serve as a member of the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on the Tax Court for its 2024-2026 term, effective September 1. The appointment is for a 2-year term. She was also invited to Co-Chair the International Taxation Committee of the New Jersey State Bar Association’s Taxation Law Section, effective immediately. 

The New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on the Tax Court is comprised of members of the bench and tax bar, as well as representatives of taxpayers’ groups, local, county and state tax administrators and others who are concerned with the administration and review of the New Jersey tax laws. The Supreme Court relies on this Committee to provide well-reasoned, expert advice on matters within its general area of knowledge and responsibility, and to assist with passing new or amending existing New Jersey tax legislation. The International Taxation Committee of the NJSBA studies and provides information on developments in international tax laws on corporate and real estate transactions. It comprises of tax and corporate attorneys who practice various aspects of international taxation. 

Ms. Diaz is a member of the Corporate and Bankruptcy and Creditors’ Rights practice groups, and advises on the federal income tax aspects of domestic and cross-border mergers and acquisitions, spin-offs and other divestitures. Her capability also encompasses tax advice with respect to business and real estate joint ventures, restructurings and workouts, and taxable and tax-free reorganizations. Ms. Diaz also has experience handling tax controversy matters, and representation of clients before the IRS and state tax authorities, and is the Chair of the Taxation Law Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. 

Ms. Diaz is admitted to practice law in the states of New York and New Jersey, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey, the U.S. Tax Court, and the U.S. Court of Federal Claims.
