Paul A. Golinski is a partner in the firm’s Trusts and Estates department. He has concentrated his practice in the areas of estate planning and estate administration for his entire career as a lawyer. He has represented a wide variety of clients in the preparation of wills, trusts, estate plans, powers of attorney, medical directives, and he counsels them regarding taxation (local, national, and international), charitable giving, and business succession. He routinely assists clients with all aspects of estate and trust administration, which includes representing clients in the New York State Surrogate’s Courts with regard to the probate of wills; appointments of executors; administrators and trustees; and, construction of ambiguous language in wills and trust agreements.

Paul’s experience also includes representing clients in cy pres proceedings (when a charity ceases to exist), accounting proceedings, and other miscellaneous proceedings. He also routinely supervises the preparation and filing of estate and income tax returns, represents clients in tax audits, and handles all aspects of tax appeals pertaining to income, gift, estate, and generation-skipping transfer taxes. In addition, Paul has created and secured tax-exempt status for not-for-profit organizations, and he has advised not-for-profit clients on a broad range of compliance matters, including the establishment and administration of endowment funds.
