Maria Miller is an associate in the firm’s Construction Litigation group. Maria is an experienced construction litigation attorney with a comprehensive background offering full expertise in construction law services in areas from drafting and negotiating construction contracts, to advising on insurance and bonds, to compliance with government regulations and dispute resolution.
Maria gained first-hand knowledge in construction industry as an in house counsel for the largest crane construction company in NYC area where she handled construction matters such as drafting and negotiating construction contracts, breach of warranty and warranty claims, construction defects, payment disputes, abandonment of projects, construction phase disputes, mechanic’s liens, surety bonds and construction insurance, subrogation claims, DOB regulations with a focus on Crane & Derricks regulations, real estate disputes and other issues pertaining to developing commercial construction projects. Maria has appeared as a defense counsel in front of governmental agencies such as DOB,OATH,ECB, DOT, DOI, DOE, NY Division of Human Rights, Department of Labor, Workers Compensation hearings and FDNY hearings. Maria has participated in numerous site inspections and handled OSHA, DOT and DOI investigations, after construction site incidents.
Currently, Maria focuses her practice on the defense of general liability and casualty cases involving property damage claims and personal injury as a result of construction projects. Maria offers representation in complex tort cases involving catastrophic injuries and claims of negligence, Labor Law, OSHA and Industrial Code violations. On behalf of property owners, contractors, general contractors, subcontractors and property managers, Maria defends claims that can arise from construction sites, demolition projects, elevator and trip-and-falls accidents as well as alleged construction defects. Maria is adept at formulating early case resolution strategies to help clients reduce their litigation costs and exposures.
